David Hurst

David Hurst finds his creative voice through music and photography.  Like many photographers, his early images were shot using a Nikon 35mm SLR. He began using a digital camera in the late 1990s.  A proficient computer user, he was already using Adobe Photoshop when he began working with digital photography.  The idea of using his camera and computer together fascinated him, and it is now his medium of choice.

Hurst states; “Digital photography is instant gratification!  I get to see the images I take immediately.  I don’t have to wait for processing.  I can manipulate the pictures the way I want, to get the effect I want.

What captures my interest enough to put it into pixels?  I like light.  I like the way it finds its way through trees.  I like morning light, particularly when filtered by steam made from winter sun melting the frost on the branches and the ground.  I like old, sun-bleached, falling down buildings.  You’ll have a hard time characterizing my work with one theme.

The subjects are eclectic; family, landscapes, backyard views, flowers, animals, anything that catches my eye and my imagination.

“I like to share the experiences that move me to take pictures, and I want people to enjoy my images enough to want to hang my images in their house, and have them enhance their appreciation of life.”
