Signed in oval medallion with double border.

19th century elephant Ivory Netsuke depicting a crouching rat catcher with an escaped rat standing on his shoulder.  Figure crouches over a wooden box, holding a straw club tucked under his left arm.  Exceptionally well carved with intricate surface detail.  Beautiful proportions and facial expression. A stunning carving by a master craftsman!

Excellent Condition.  Lovely patina.
