Daru Stevens
Photographer
Daru Stevens focuses on observing and recording subtleties of nature difficult
or impossible to perceive with the naked eye.
His subjects include plants, flowers, and insects, often photographed in
his own back yard. His images
seek to transcend our typical view of the world around us, revealing hidden
surprises in the simplest subjects, and celebrating the complexity and beauty of
nature.
The
artist states; “Photography can be used to make big things small enough to fit
in your living room, or small things large enough to reveal something unseen. I
do both, but I’m most excited about making tiny things noticeable.
I
never take a set of macro photos that I don’t see something I’ve never seen
before. Sometimes it’s just unnoticed beauty; sometimes it’s a startling
creature... I’m
also excited by abstracts in nature, living things that form a pattern that, at
first, may appear to be chaotic, but slowly the mind and eye resolve it into a
life form.”
