This image was taken at one of several small temples in and around the town of Ubud, on the island of Bali, Indonesia.  The temple is located in a rainforest canyon, on the tip of a peninsula where two rivers join.  Though it is one of the smaller temples on the island, its strategic location gives it special significance. The temple is considered to be a focal point for magical forces, and it is recommended by the locals to stay away at night.  The site is one of the most mysterious temple sites in Bali, and contains a large number of well preserved painted figures. The figure portrayed is one of several painted stone guardians on the grounds of the inner temple.
