Ceramics by Christy and Cedric Brown

Hand thrown and hand carved stoneware vases made by ceramic artists Cedric & Christy Brown are truly one of a kind.

Ceramic Artists Cedric & Christy Brown  have spent the majority of their lives in artistic endeavors, however, their greatest fascination and continued  passion has been their work in ceramics.

They are nationally know proponents of the Craftsman era, widely admired for their original handcrafted stoneware and porcelain vases created with studio made glazes and designed with  empathy for nature. Their work is available at galleries and institutions on both coasts. Pasadena’s Gamble House, one of the finest craftsman houses ever built, now a museum, administered  by USC , has featured their work for ten years. Others included Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Farms and Elbert Hubbard’s Roycroft Shops.

In the year 2000, a selection of pottery vases were commissioned and installed at the new Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim .

Feb.2003 a solo exhibit of the artist team called “Icons of the Sierra & Shot Pots” opened at the Friends Of The Tule River Gallery in Springville, California where the artist live and work.

Recently, April 2005, an exhibit at the Bakersfield Museum of Art in conjunction with the Irvine Mission collection of early California paintings was held April 2005. The exhibit “Golden State of Mind” portrayed eclectic journeys through pastoral California interpreted in high-fire clay vessels & tile.

“Pottery making is kind of an adventure, in which, if one is successful one finds, in the end, oneself. One must have the spirit and intuition as well as determination, to achieve a unity of chemistry and artistry that sings one clear note.” ~ C & C Brown
