Mayan Mask Earrings

Mexican screw back earrings with Pre-Columbian Mayan mask design featuring ear plugs, snake headdress, and bell dangles.

Purchased in Oaxaca Mexico in 1956

Stamped "Silver Mexico" on base plate of screw back.

length 1 1/2", width approx 5/8"

excellent condition

Although these little fellows look very much like gold (I thought they were until a closer inspection), they are clearly stamped SILVER, and are probably gold plated.  Regardless of the material it is a lovely set of vintage Mexican costume earrings based on Pre-Columbian designs.
