James Sasso is an internationally known American artist, widely collected and published. He has been painting since 1986, and at one time owned one of the biggest art studios in Dallas Texas.  He attended the Dallas Art Institute, operated his own gallery for six years, and participated in the Artist’s Program at South Side on Lamar in Dallas, the largest loft community in the U.S.  Sasso relocated to Los Angeles in 2003 to continue work on his “Sassy Cats” paintings, which he originated in Dallas.

Sasso’s paintings are colorful and graphically bold, often whimsical, influenced in part by graffiti art and pop culture.  His works include cultural,  religious, environmental, and patriotic subjects.

The artist states; “Symbols, shapes, patterns and color all play a role in my work. Painting is a language which tells a story that everyone can read in a different way,"

Sasso's work has appeared on  tee shirts for some of the biggest rock bands of the 90's such as R.E.M., Pearl Jam, and Jane's Addiction.  He has been selected to paint new cars by both Volkswagena nd BMW, an honor shared by Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Rauschenberg.
