Portrait of Minnehaha with long braids, headband, and single feather.  This image was reproduced many times, and slightly altered by staff artists depending on its use. Unlike the other four illustrations in the grouping, the piece is painted on glossy illustration board rather than matte drawing paper.  The image is rendered with strong edges and clearly defined features, most likely to enhance the details during reproduction.  Hair is beautifully done with thick, rolling braids. Subdued tones overall with red and blue details on headband.

Detail of maiden.

Very good condition overall.  Minor age yellowing. Framed in museum quality frame in very good condition.  One scratch on glass at top center.

Detail with artist's signature.

" ...Next the Maiden on an island,

 In the centre of an island;

 And the song this shape suggested

 Was though you are at a distance,

 Were upon some far off island,

Such the spell I cast upon you,

Such the magic power of passion,

I could straightway draw you to me!"
