 Shishi Chinese Lion with Pearl of Wisdom

1 5/8" long x 1 1/8" high x 7/8" deep

18th century ivory netsuke depicting a Shishi (Chinese Lion).  Mouth is open and contains a "pearl of wisdom" which rattles around inside.  Well carved with nice detail.

SOLD

 

Two ( himotochi ) holes in bottom. Larger hole is hollowed to hide knot on cord.  

Unsigned.  

Excellent Condition.  

Deep golden age patina, darker on back.
