19th century ivory netsuke depicting a kneeling foreigner. Figure holds a large pipe and pets his faithful hound, which grins up at him with subservient admiration.  Well carved with nice detail.

Two ( himotochi ) holes in back. 

Signed.  

Excellent Condition.  

Lovely mellow patina.
