Classic 18th century ivory netsuke depicting a family of three Shishi (Chinese Lions). Male stands guard while scratching at his ear.  Female leans lovingly over her cub.  Fearsome expressions. Faint traces of green pigment on male. Well carved with nice detail. A symbol of strength and familial loyalty.

Two ( himotochi ) holes in bottom.

Unsigned.  

Very Good Condition with very minor wear from age and use.

Lovely mellow patina.
