This image is another from the Nawurlandja rock shelter, one of hundreds of aboriginal rock art sites found in Kakadu National Park in Australia's Northwest Territory.  The painting represents the mythological being Namarrkon, also known as the Lightning Man.  Lightning man is a powerful ancestral spirit, responsible for storms and lightning.  The painting pre-dates the X-Ray style, showing evidence of older styles in the narrow rendering of the figure, and a hint of the X-Ray style in the skeleton-like structure of the drawing. The image dates to around 5000 to 8000 years ago.
