Ron
Zanini has been making decorative wood boxes since his retirement from teaching in 2002. While relatively short, his artistic path has been intense and convoluted.
It began with the desire to display flowers he had picked and pressed. Using woods locally available to his home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Central California, he began to design unique frames to hold dried flower arrangements pressed between glass. Soon, the framed flowers became the lids for boxes. Inlaid wood, patterned resin and marquetry designs followed as the enjoyment of trying “something different” flourished.
Using spalted, distressed, patterned, burl, and other otherwise unusual woods,
Ron creates something special that is truly “one-of-a-kind”.
