The painting depicts a Southwestern American landscape, probably the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California.  Energetic mark and excellent detail.  Color is very nice, with the mountains rendered in soft purples and umbers, creating a strong sense of distance and atmosphere.

The painting is in good condition, framed under glass.  Matt and backing are probably not acid free, and should be replaced.
