Suzanne Baker was raised in Three Rivers, CA a small town n central California sin the heart of ranch country. From an early age she was immersed in the cowboy life.  Baker is an avid horse girl.  A lover of horses throughout her life, she worked as a horse trainer and pack guide to pay for her college tuition.  She met her husband Gordon, a fellow classmate, who went on to teach agriculture. Today Gordon is a substitute teacher and raises cattle on the 106 acres the couple owns in Raymond California. Baker began her work as an artist experimenting with watercolor and acrylics. Her recent work is largely rendered in acrylic. While her beginnings as an artist were difficult, she always knew her path was well worth the journey. "I always knew that I would be a painter and that I was going to be successful."  Today she is well known as a pre-eminent painter of Western subjects and the High Sierras.
