“If one advances confidently in the direction of ones  dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

                                           ~ Thoreau

My artwork is largely nature-inspired, particularly by the magnificent mountain areas in and around Yosemite . I strive to bring into my work the feelings I am left with after walking in the woods for an hour, after seeing a new (for me) feathered wonder on a branch, after watching shadows dance across the snowscape during sunset.

Printmaking has a meditative, detailed and labor-intensive nature, which involves nearly all the senses. I have explored many areas of visual art, but find the challenge of printmaking to be captivating; Carving my own designs, the feel & aroma of the wood, polishing of the copper, mixing my inks into the perfect color, the pressing of each creation, layer by layer, into the paper.

Though I started out thinking that relief printmaking was the end-all, be-all, as I've discovered intaglio techniques & collagraphy, I've decided that anything  under the Printmaking umbrella is for me! I move from a copper plate etching to a linocut or woodcut relief print to a monoprint and back again, often having more than one project cooking at a time.
