Mildred Rose
Mildred
Rose began creating miniature pots when she found that she did
not have the strength to create larger pieces on the wheel.
She decided to experiment, and to see how small she could
actually make a pot while still throwing it on the wheel.
After years of practice she has succeeded in making an astounding
variety of miniature vessels, some as small as half an inch in diameter. Her interest in Native American art, particularly Chumash Indian rock art found in the mountainous backcountry of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, led her to using Chumash designs to decorate her hand thrown pots. |
