Jade Boy and Dog Pendant

Ming period - circa 14th to 17th century AD

collected in 1971

SOLD

Finely crafted pale green jade boy figure / pendant with padded clothing.  Figure holds a spherical object in front, and a lotus stem behind his back.  A double stem leads to a large lotus lily pad high on his shoulders, and a double leaf  lotus bud "topknot".  This may indicate divinity or divine protection over the figure.  Loops for a lanyard are formed through the topknot.    Boy  is accompanied by a playful dog at his feet.  Lovely rounded, full bodied style. Nice detail.  Natural amber color in jade matrix is cleverly integrated into lily pad design.
