PRICE $350

 dimensions:

approx 4 1/4" diameter  x 5 1/4" tall

Peruvian Pre-Columbian ceramic vessel with bulbous form and primitive handle at neck.  Tiahuanaco or Cabuza culture.  Reddish brown background decorated with monochrome designs that include linear banding, loose zig-zag patterns, triangular stair-step patterns, and t-shaped designs reminiscent of bird tracks.

Collected circa 1960 in Peru

CONDITION: Two rrim chips. Primitive repair drill holes on either side of a fracture from rim to neck.  Leather / rawhide cord encircling neck, possibly related to the repair.  Another crack on base, either a firing artifact or from prolonged exposure to changing environmental conditions, not from impact.  No modern repairs.  All told a nice piece with character and a strong sense of age and history.
